History: Trouble at the Gates
When a desperate man stumbles into your secluded shrine and asks for help rescuing his kidnapped family, you're there to answer the call. Explore the intricacies of the HEXplore It campaign mode system and get a taste of the dangers that await you in the full adventure.

Chapter 1: A Threat in Dragon's Port
A group of suspiciously organized goblins have stolen three priceless treasures from the Baron of Dragonport. Their recovery will uncover a dark conspiracy that threatens to engulf all of Runecrest Vale.

Chapter 2: Into the Wild
Dragon's Port was just the beginning. More allies and information are needed to confront the coming plague of goblins, and that means navigating a treacherous forest filled with deadly new denizens.

Chapter 3: Klik's Embrace
After his latest attack, the self-proclaimed ruler of the goblins seeks even more power. Allies old and new will be needed to face this unique threat, but will they be enough?

Chapter 4: Descent into Madness
Klik's plans have boiled over with disastrous results. Now it's time to take a final stand and take the fight to the goblins before the entire valley falls to Klik's madness!

Create heroes and experience a story where you choose your own path through six chapters of content.
You will only experience a fraction of the content in each chapter, which means your story may unfold differently with each game.
Earn unique epic gear, campaign-specific gear and stats, face powerful new enemies, and level up your heroes throughout the story.
Statuses and items you receive in a chapter can affect the story in future chapters in different and unpredictable ways.

Can you restore balance to Runecrest Valley?

Players build their heroes much as they would in a regular game of the Valley of the King of the Dead. They will use the same heroes throughout their adventure.

At the start of each chapter, you'll find a map set up for that chapter, along with a variety of triggered events, chapter statuses, and campaign items to obtain or unlock as you play. After setting up your map and assembling your components, you'll read an introductory narrative that sets the tone for your journey and throws you headfirst into your adventure. As you interact with additional content in the game world, you will experience varied and unique chapter passages that tell your journey and give you the choice of how you want to proceed. These decisions will significantly affect the course of the game.

Triggered Events (TE)
Triggered events are moments when you triggered a narrative event throughout the game (landing in a special place, doing particularly well or badly on a status test, etc.). They are identified at the beginning of each chapter based on the game phase in which they appear. Each chapter has its own list of TEs that you need to be aware of, and not all of them are related to your chapter goal. You are not expected to encounter all TEs in a single playthrough. When a trigger occurs, the triggered event indicates which chapter passage to read.

Chapter passages (CP)
Chapter passages are numbered narrative moments that show the results of decisions made during a triggered event. The Chapter Passages section of each chapter contains these moments, arranged in a random setting, for you to discover and read when prompted. You won't know the outcome of your decisions until you make them. You only know if a decision will take time or not.

Heroic moments
As part of the campaign's story, some heroes are able to perform amazing feats and turn the tide of history in ways other heroes cannot. For example, healer role-type heroes may have an opportunity to rescue a dying NPC, or an ogre may perform a heroic feat. These occasions are called heroic moments. The text of a TE or CP states when a heroic moment is possible, what roles, role types, races, or aspects can participate in it, and what your special ability or choice will be.
